When Cornelia Grey sent this re-expanded version of her wonderful Benjamin Pepperwhistle and the Fantabulous Circus of Wonder , honestly, I had doubts! The first time I read the original story, I was charmed. However, this was going to be a re-read! Even if Cornelia said that she added 7k words, I thought, “I already knew how the climax scenes would play out! How could she possibly surprise me again?”
Well, she did...
Cornelia shines in her ability to string you along as readers, in a fantastic journey that her characters are having. You experience things like they do. When she writes sensuality; it is like your senses being heightened. Yes, I know how the climax scenes felt – but Cornelia added another sensual scene (of Cole teaching Benjamin to shoot) that just got my skin all tingly and hot. It was like watching a movie in 4DX technology, where you felt every rhythm and beat. It was fabulous.
My rating for the original story was almost perfect (I gave it 4.75 rounded it to 5). For this one, I stick with it (and rounded it up to 5) because even with my knowledge of how things turned out, the story still able to make me all worked up. It also gave me the joy of being back in the world of circus that slightly isolated while still being deliciously flirty and edgy. It was a world I was gladly to be back to.
