SPOILER ALERT!

World After (Susan Ee)

World After - Susan Ee

To be perfectly honest, I didn't remember anything from book #1 (my memory was so bad!) but it didn't really matter. This book was quite fast-paced and it picked up immediately after what happened in Angelfall. It was CRAZILY GOOD -- and I didn't have problem to get immersed into the world that Susan Ee created.

I think what made me love this series was that Penryn was no damsel in distress. There wasn't also a love triangle that distracted our heroine. No siree, Penryn was quite determined to kill some of the angels (and demons) she thought responsible for Paige's condition as well as the cutting of Raffe's wings. I loved her thoughts, I loved her actions. Gah, I even loved her humor (Pookie Bear, really, Penryn?).

The scenes at Alcatraz was eerie, horrific, intense, INSANE! I was on the edge of my seat -- and gah, how I loved Raffe. Yes, Raffe was 'physically' missing but we did get more of his characters through the scenes that his sword provided Penryn.

It was truly a great read -- and I didn't feel the ending was too cliffy. It didn't get my 5-stars mostly because I wanted more Raffe (and I didn't get it) and for 2nd book in a series, I guess I wanted a "moving forward" storyline, you know? I didn't feel like really get it here. Maybe in next book? I wanted to know what the Doctor meant by Paige could be the answer to humanity...
