To Read is To Live

Changes (The Dresden Files, #12) - Jim Butcher I only have three words to sum up what I feel after finishing this book. HOLY F*CKING HELL!!. I'm speechless. Gosh, when Jim Butcher means "Changes", he MEANS changes!!! There are so many things happening in this book, starting with the startling knowledge that Harry and Susan had a daughter (one that she kept from him). Susan told Harry that their daughter had been kidnapped by vampire of the Red Court. It went from there. From a rescue mission to literally, a war with massive consequences. The twists keep coming in, from every single corner: Harry losing almost everything (yes, exactly, even his Blue Beetle that has survived 11 books!), accepting an offer that simply his first step turning to the dark side, the real reason why his daughter is kidnapped, new knowledge about Harry's bloodlineKnowing that he has a daughter, Harry stops at literally NOTHING to save her. Even if he must sacrifice his soul to do it. Of course, he is not alone, he has his friends ... Murphy, Molly, Thomas, Mouse ... and even his Godmother, Lea, and the Russian Knight, Sanya, to help save his daughter (the reference to Fellowship of the Ring is pretty funny, with Thomas taking dibs as Legolas and well, Mouse as Gimly *lol*). It's so powerful to see Murphy fighting with Fidelacchius -- I wish she accepts the sword *sigh*This book feels different than the other books in this series. It feels less endearing, but at the same time more raw and intense. By the time it gets into the final time of the war, I feel like my energy have been all sucked into the book. I feel tired, I feel exhausted, and there are tears in my eyes with how the war ends. The final pages, with Harry and Murphy on Thomas's Water Beetle seems quiet and right. The book starts with them and however it ends, it should be with them ...Then it left with A CLIFF-HANGER? A F*CKING CLIFF-HANGER ... Seriously, this series is FRICKIN' EVIL for my sanity!!! And now I have to wait another year. AARGH!!!
