To Read is To Live

Him (Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy)

Him - Elle Kennedy, Sarina Bowen

“Loved you every summer since I was thirteen years old. Love you even more now.”

Sure, some parts felt a bit cheesy especially during the sex parts; I swore some of the descriptions like the "cock twitch" or "weeping cock" was overly done by now, I could feel muscles in my eyes groaning. But in overall, I loved how much these boys were into each other as well as the fact that this story really focused on just the two them; being at a summer hockey camp and everything.

I liked Wes' vulnerability when it comes to Jamie -- it was clear how much Wes loves him. I loved that Wes admits that to us readers right from the start, although I felt like he also tried to sabotage his own happiness with his insecurity about Jamie's sexuality (that he will go back to girls) or the idea that as a professional hockey player, he must stay in the closet. His insecurity annoyed me a bit because I thought Wes became a jackass when he was jealous.

I loved Jamie though. Sure, he might not have a lot of experience with men, but I liked his attitude towards it. He doesn't freak out, he stays solid and level-headed, which makes Jamie really good for Wes. I loved Jamie for being courageous enough to knock down Wes' wall of bullshit. AND, I really loved the way that Jamie was into coaching. I admire young people who know that they want to dedicate their lives in teaching/coaching others to be better person. Not everyone has that kind of attitude, and Jamie realizes this in his young age. Hats off to you.

So yep, I loved this -- heck, I even read all the sexy times and I didn't feel like they were too much, which said something to my enjoying my time. I would always be one who moan over too many sex scenes on page.

Plus the entire Canning clan was frickin' awesome.
