Out in the Blue

Out in the Blue (2015 Daily Dose - Never Too Late) - Kelly Jensen

I liked the idea of two mature men in this story. -- a 45-year-old accountant who felt that he had been grounded by his company, who felt lonely and rather socially inept, with a 36-year-old teacher who had lost his partner for about a year. As someone who just passed her 35th last year, I felt that we needed more characters above 35-years-old. Just so I could feel more connected to the them :)

Although the story spanned for only five days, it didn't feel rushed. Jared and Fin had good conversations throughout. They connected in this hiking tour. It was quite an intimate setting as they were roommates too, much like two people who shared a car ride on a road trip. The ending was tentatively promising.

However, maybe it was just me, but I felt that the narrative of this story to be rather choppy. I felt like I was missing things in the beginning. It didn't flow as smoothly as I preferred. AGAIN, it might just me. Sometimes I had lack of chemistry with an author's writing style. And this is a new-to-me author. But I didn't dislike it... so 3-stars it is.
