The Deal (Elle Kennedy)

The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1) - Elle Kennedy
Aside for that cliché storyline near the ending -- "Why did you decide to go there, Ms. Kennedy? Because it was so good before that!" -- this is definitely one of the better New Adult books I've read so far!

I admit that I was ready to complain a lot when I found out Hannah and Garret's background issues: she was raped, he had abusive father. I thought, "Oh, noes, another NA characters with horrible background, what else is new? (I actually feel bad for these kids, their life looks difficult!)". But then Elle Kennedy turned my cynicism upside down. While yes, these two have their baggage, but it doesn't actually define them. It is stated as fact and not as plot bait.

I really loved the hilarity of Garrett and Hannah's banters. I loved that the progress of the relationship from tutor and student to friends to actual boyfriend/girlfriend felt so natural. I loved that there were more to their life as university students besides hooking-up ... they went to class, they had activities (hockey, singing, hanging with friends) ... I loved that the chemistry was so flawless, when Garrett and Hannah finally had sex, they could actually joke around and had FUN while doing it; thus made me enjoy reading about it.

Conclusion ... yep, I loved it.
