My first story from DSP Celebrate! 2014 Advent Calendar collection -- I didn't buy many, just from authors I was familiar with -- and I loved it!! I think it was combination of reading a story (albeit short) that was set in a foreign country (that is NOT the U.S. or the U.K.), learning a new the whole Hungarian holiday myth (Krampusz!), and the likeable characters.
I love reading something stories in different countries, I want to be able to travel the world so badly, and since I have not enough money, reading is the best (and cheapest) way to it. Here, Brian Preston, the introverted young man, who came to Budapest to teach English, became my eyes. I loved that he was open to new adventure, even if he was worried at first. His experience of walking the city, his excitement of purchasing his own transportation tickets, his eargerness to learn about Krampusz, just made me feel so alive. I couldn't be in Budapest myself but I lived through him for this short while.
As for the romance, it was adorable. There was a slight 'twist' about Zoli in the end, which I thought was pretty good.
So yep, my first DSP 2014 Advent story and it was a blast...
