While this novella was set before the first book, Wickedly Dangerous, but I felt that it could be read anytime. In fact, I read both "Baba" books before I finally picked this up.
This was a good prequel to Barbara's story. It had nothing to do with any romance tease... it was just a case that Barbara had to take because the man who asked for her help had a solid case of magic problem that took his family away from him. It was quick read (it is a novella!) and enjoyable.
