To Read is To Live

It Had To Be You (Lucky Harbor, #7) - Jill Shalvis Ali Winters finds out that his boyfriend is screwing other women AND that he has given up the lease on their place on the same day. She is practically homeless, especially that the tenant is back, albeit temporarily. Detective Luke Hanover returns to Lucky Harbor for 3-weeks vacation after his latest case gone wrong. He definitely doesn't expect a woman staying at his house, even if the woman is alluring. But then Ali is suspected of stealing money from his ex-boyfriend and Luke finds himself helping Ali and has a difficult time to leave ...----------------This is the next set of trilogy located in Lucky Harbor, Washington and I love it!! I like both Luke and Ali. While they might not be significantly different from other characters in this series -- Ali is optimistic and loved by the Geriatric Gang (love that name) and Luke is someone that people can depend on (I love how the geriatric gang nudges Luke to help solving crimes in Lucky Harbor *lol*). Yes, the romance is predictable but still very much enjoyable to read. There is a very, VERY slight subplot about the long-time tense between Luke and his grandfather, Edward (Edward married Luke's grandmother for short time). Luke thinks that he fails his grandmother and that Edward is angry with him throughout the years that Luke is away from Lucky Harbor. So I wholeheartedly love the conversation that these two have. The mystery on who is stealing the money is quite fun to follow as well. Duly noted this is not a procedural mystery suspense, so sometimes it fades to the background. However, the conclusion is not as predictable as the romance and it makes it interesting!A good start and makes me excited to read the next story ...
