Bad Wolf is the story of Broderick, one of the Wolf fighters of Austin Shiftertown and Joanne Green, the human woman whom first appeared in Feral Heat; at that time Joanne's sister was missing and she accused the Shifters of kidnapping her. Joanne has been staying at Austin to be with her sister and her sister's mate who is on the verge of going Feral.
Lately, Ashley's novellas in the Shifters Unbound series have become as important to the whole arc as the novels. So I tried to read about them as well. When Broderick was captured after being mistaken as Guardian, we found out that another Guardian was killed, and the sword missing. Somehow the sword's medallion found its way to Broderick. Apparently, there was a human trapped in Fae's world, and the Guardian's soul trapped there as well, and another human woman was trying to save the human but ended up having his hired help killing the Guardian and kidnapped Broderick by mistake.
I liked that Joanne and Broderick had known each other for the past months. They both clearly were attracted to one another, but apparently Broderick was a bit stubborn when it comes to choosing his mate. I was happy that Joanne was resourceful -- she was good with computer, used to be a hacker -- and didn't yield to Broderick's growling, prowling, and protective way. She was strong and smart and definitely became a good partner for Broderick when push comes to shove.
Some of the previous characters made appearance here -- Sean, Spike, Seamus (I need to read his story as well) and Tiger, that crazy cryptic bastard *lol*. I totally thought Tiger to be very amusing, especially when he muttered predictions that would ALWAYS turn out to be right.
I was still not completely certain that I would enjoy the whole Fae thing. But it was intriguing indeed. And that human, Remy, who was trapped at Fae's world ... I'm sure there will be another story about him down the line.
